This Fourth of July, my family and I stayed at a new hotel in Baltimore called the WhyHotel. When I say my family, I mean everyone: Olu, Ire, Alfie (our dog), and myself. Why Hotel uses new luxury apartment buildings to provide “pop-up” stays for their guests. The company takes vacant units and turns them into luxurious spaces with awesome amenities. I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical about just how family and pet friendly the hotel would be. Simply seemed too good to be true. The price was also extremely affordable for its downtown location. Upon arrival, I was so excited. The hotel literally looks as it did online. Even from the outside, the location was stunning!

At our designated location, we parked in a lot that was connected to the building. Thankfully, there were lots of open spaces. For a day stay, we paid $18 for parking which is pretty reasonable for downtown. We eventually checked-in at another vacant unit located on the 10 th floor. As is the case with most hotel stays, we had the option to check-in at 3pm.
At check-in we were welcomed with exceptional customer service, and the process was quick and seamless. They even offer all sorts of treats: healthy organic juice for your baby, cold beverages, wine, beer and water, and small snacks. They also had treats for our Alfie. When we entered our room, I was in total shock. For a junior one-bedroom apartment, it was HUGE! It felt like we rented a penthouse suite. The space was also very modern, featuring beautiful art around the apartment, washer and dryer, cable, cookware and utensils, smart television with Amazon Alexa, balcony, and a full-size kitchen. I utilized the fridge to store Ire’s food and really loved the idea of having a full-size kitchen (with an electric stove and oven). You also don’t have to worry about slow internet—each room has its own unique Wi-Fi password.

Our apartment was very cozy, comfortable, and spacious—just how I like it. Everything felt luxurious, including the bathroom gel and the hand soap; it smelled so amazing (of course, I had to take a photo so that I can purchase for our home!). If you’re thinking about where you child would sleep, worry no more, a lovely play pen was provided for Ire. The balcony, where I spent a lot of time, provided a beautiful view of downtown Baltimore. In addition to an awesome view, I saw cool spots on the first floor that would be nice for meetings, studying, or working from home. They even offer a well-equipped gym. The caveat to our stay? There are TONS of restaurants nearby—both walking distance or a short Uber ride away. We opted for dinner at the B&O American Brasserie, and it was lovely. We took an Uber there; which was about
seven minutes away from the hotel. The duck wings were our favorite and the ambiance and music of this restaurant was just perfect. My overall take on the Why Hotel: absolutely beautiful. It felt like “home away from home,” and we totally didn’t want to leave. The staff are extremely friendly and we had no issues with anything. Olu and I plan to return very soon, and maybe in another city as expansion is underway. I will be sure to capture more beautiful pictures. In the meantime, watch my quick room tour on my IGTV.
